About

Citizens Initiative for the Future (CIF) is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political civil society organization established in 2011 and registered in Bosilegrad, Serbia. In addition to its main office in Bosilegrad, CIF operates through a sub-office in Kraljevo, enabling the organization to expand its activities and provide support to communities throughout Serbia and the wider region.

CIF was founded with the vision of contributing to the improvement of living conditions for all citizens, particularly young people and vulnerable groups, through active civic participation, education, social inclusion, and sustainable local development.

Over the years, the organization has developed extensive experience in designing and implementing local, national, and international projects addressing a wide range of topics, including:

  • Youth participation and empowerment;
  • Human and minority rights;
  • Civic engagement and participatory decision-making;
  • Education and lifelong learning;
  • Entrepreneurship and economic development;
  • Environmental protection and sustainable development;
  • Volunteering and intercultural dialogue;
  • Promotion of culture, traditions, and social inclusion.

CIF believes that strong and active communities are built through cooperation, solidarity, and citizen participation. Therefore, the organization works closely with local authorities, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and international partners to develop innovative solutions and create opportunities for individuals and communities to reach their full potential.

The organization has successfully implemented numerous projects funded by national and international donors, including the European Union, Erasmus+, the Council of Europe, different ministries of the Republic of Serbia, and various regional development programmes. Through these initiatives, CIF has supported citizens, particularly young people, in acquiring new skills, becoming more active in their communities, and improving their employment and personal development opportunities.

Today, Citizens Initiative for the Future continues to serve as a platform for positive social change, promoting equality, inclusion, active citizenship, and sustainable community development while building bridges between local communities and international partners.
